- Abstract
The article presents a critique of several poems by Wallace Stevens including "Notes Toward a Supreme Fiction," "Depression Before Spring," and "Sunday Morning." It considers the application of the theories of Russian philosopher Mikhail Bakhtin for explaining the lack of consensus in the criticism of the poetry of Wallace Stevens. Other topics include the the application of Bakhtin's theories to poetry, dialogism, and Stevens' poetry's connection to the real world.
