- Abstract
As part of the IGF project Spinetex, textile structures were developed to mimic the fibrous ring of biomimetic intervertebral disc prostheses. Three textile technologies were examined for this purpose: embroidery, flat weaving with ORW technique, and tubular weaving with twisted yarns. The tubular structures proved to be the most suitable. The structures were successfully manufactured and will now undergo further investigations to assess their suitability as a component of an intervertebral disc implant. The project was funded by the Research Association Research Board Textile e.V.
