The article presents an investigation of how farm women and their physical health were represented in the agricultural press in the middle of the nineteenth century. The author looks at such publications as "New England Farmer," "Boston Cultivator," "Homestead," "American Agriculturalist," "Farmer's Almanack," and "The Granite Farmer."
