The article focuses on David Copperfield, a shorthand writer of Dickens and the tradition of the Bildungsroman. Topics discussed include reference of George Eliot, an English novelist to Charles Dickens as a truthful creative engagement with common life, description on Charles Dickens as British novelist who is gifted with the power of rendering the external traits, and failure of Dickens to offer the readers psychological character and conception of life with emotions.
