- Abstract
The cover presented by Hongrui Jiang, and co‐workers, article 1800038, shows a thin, flexible sheet that achieves infrared stealth. Silicon nanowires (pillars) and silver nanoparticles (tiny beads as the feet of the pillars) absorb the infrared radiation from a source (pink beam and the glow at the tips of the nanowires) to quench the reflection or transmission, shielding the infrared source and making it undetectable from behind the sheet. The back of the sheet includes air channels to dissipate heat accumulating at the sheet (gap between the two layers of the sheet, light brown and blue), and resistance arrays that can be programmed to generate a false infrared signature (squares) for disguise.
