- Abstract
A literary criticism is presented of the 1985 Swedish novel "Nedstörtad ängel/Downfall: A Love Story," by Per Olov (P.O.) Enquist. The book's depiction of monsters, so as to explore the subjectivity of humans, including the book's monster character Pasqual Pinon (who is a historical person re-imagined by the author), is discussed. An overview of the forms of love portrayed within the novel, including romantic love, is provided.
