- Title
Production of Aluminum Alloys: Status and Prospects.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article reports on the status and prospects of production of aluminum alloys. Due to their physico-mechanical properties, aluminum alloys are one of the most important structural materials presently in use. Roughly 2/3 of the volume of aluminum alloys made in the world is produced in a reverberatory furnace in which the fuel and the charge are in contact with one another. Such furnaces are similar to open-hearth (OH) furnaces in terms of their design and principle of operation, and in Russia they make more than 80% of the aluminum. Recent decades have shown a sharp decline in OH steel production.
