- Title
Guideline on Informed Consent.
- Abstract
The article presents a list of guidelines for dental personnel in regard to informed consent. According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) informed consent is essential to the delivery of dental care. The informed consent process lets the patient or the guardian to participate in and retain autonomy over the dental care received. Informed consent may also decrease the dentist's liability from malpractice claims in regard to miscommunication. This guideline shows that informed consent is governed by the regulations and case laws of individual states and that dental care providers should review applicable state law and regulations.
