- Abstract
It is known that in women there is a predominance of the sex hormones estradiol and progesterone, responsible for characterizing physical aspects, regulating behaviors and guiding menopause. The study aimed to investigate in the existing literature the link between the hormone testosterone and its relationship with the well-being and maintenance of women's health . The research is characterized by being an integrative review from the available literature, and the methodology covers studies of all aspects, which allows the construction of a rich panorama about the topic under analysis. The sample consisted of 10 articles captured in the Scientific Electronic Library (ScIELO), Researchgat, ScienceDirect and Scientific Journals of UTFPR. After the theoretical instrumentation, there was an analysis of the contents that allowed grouping into four topics that were discussed: menopause, testosterone and quality of life, hormonal deficiency related to comfort and gender and female health issues, being worth noting that the predominant methodology in the studies was the descriptive approach. It was concluded that studies on testosterone need an approach that goes beyond the biological view between the bodies of men and women, and the importance of the hormone is explained by the clinical benefits of its use and dynamics in different contexts.
