- Abstract
We used the spatial replacement time method to investigate the dynamic change characteristics of species diversity and biomass in herb layer of the Robinia pseudoacacia (RP) plantation with different afforestation years (5, 20, and 40 a) in Zichang City, the study area, and abandoned land (AL), the control area (5, 20, and 40 a) . We also analyzed the dynamic changes of herb layer species diversity and aboveground biomass and their relationship with soil factors for under the three different ages. The results showed that the species diversity and biomass in herb layer in the RP and AL with different years showed great differences. Overall species diversity showed that the dominant species belonged to a few families, and a few disadvantaged species belonged to the dominant family. Drought-and barren-tolerant Compositae, Gramineae, and Legumes (Artemisia gmelinil, Stipa bungeana, Lespedeza davurica etc.) were the dominant species. The aboveground biomass of AL and RP increased continuously with the increase in afforestation age, with the herb layer of RP having higher aboveground productivity than AL. Redundancy analysis showed that the species diversity index of herb layer was negatively correlated with aboveground biomass (P<0.05), while the species diversity of herb layer was positively correlated with total potassium, total phosphorus, soil silt, and clay (P<0.05) . There was a positive correlation between soil bulk density and soil moisture and aboveground biomass (P<0.05), which indicated that these were the main factors affecting species diversity and aboveground biomass of herb layer.
