- Abstract
The author discusses the history of the First Nations of Canada from a macroscopic perspective and draws parallels between the "Épopée de Gilgamesh" (Epic of Gilgamesh) and the mechanisms used to assimilate and dominate the first people of Canada. He comments on the epic poem's legendary characters Gilgamesh, King of Uruk, and Enkidu, the sociopolitical context of the colonization of North America, the Indian Act, First Nations and education, and the emergence of new forms of governance among the First Nations.
