Abstract

Dear Editor, Pyostomatitis-pyodermatitis vegetans (PSV-PDV) is a rare, chronic inflammatory neutrophilic dermatosis characterized by pustules and plaques of skin and oral mucosa, classically recognized in patients with uncontrolled inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). In the months preceding the oral lesions, the patient developed asymptomatic pustules and erythematous plaques in the inframammary and inguinal folds, axillae, and scalp. Although the pathogenesis is poorly understood, its strong association with IBD allows the presence of PSV-PDV to serve as a highly specific marker for underlying uncontrolled gastrointestinal inflammation.[1] Cutaneous and oral lesions are distinctive and may appear simultaneously or as separate processes.
