- Abstract
The aim of this study was to increase microbial fermented quality of corn straw, the optimal fermented conditions were selected by orthogonal design with three factors and three levels based on the main substrate of corn straw. After the optimal fermented condition was obtained, the further fermenting experiment was divided into three groups: the control group (without adding Lactobacillus plantarum and cellulase), single bacterial group (Lactobacillus plantarum 1 × 106 CFU/g), single enzyme group (cellulase 0.1 FPU/g air-dried matter), enzyme-bacteria group (Lactobacillus plantarum 1 × 106 CFU/g + cellulase 0.1 FPU/g air-dried matter). The results showed that the optimal composition of fermented substrates in dry matter was 96% corn straw, 2% corn meal and 2% cottonseed meal, plus 60% moisture, in which the best fermenting result was obtained. Based on the above fermented substrates, the highest score of fermentation was obtained after 28 days fermentation including both bacteria and enzyme additions, in which pH value (3.88) was significantly decreased (P<0.05), the counts of lactic acid bacteria were significantly increased (P< 0.05), the contents of NDF, ADF, cellulose and hemicellulose were significantly decreased (P<0.05), compared with the control group. In conclusion, the enzyme-bacteria combination can improve the fermentation quality of corn straw.
