- Abstract
In the last years there has been a quantitative and qualitative growth within the field of film history of works oriented towards cinematographic exhibition, distribution, and reception. Under the name of "New Cinema History" there has been a renewal, not only thematic but, fundamentally, methodological by incorporating new tools, especially those coming from the Digital Humanities. This article explores the potential that this perspective poses to broaden our knowledge of Argentine cinema. Focusing on the case of Flores and Belgrano neighborhoods in Buenos Aires in September 1938, we propose studying the characteristics of the programming and exhibition, the distribution circuits, and the relationship with the city downtown. In this way, not only unknown aspects of this field are identified, such as the disciplining practices of the public, but a new series of questions are opened that confirm the potential richness of delving into this path.
