- Abstract
The aim of this work is to provide new data for the knowledge of the movement of people and products in Santa Cruz de Tenerife during the 18th century. Archaeological and anthropological evidence from the excavations in the church of La Concepción were used as a source of information. mtDNA analysis from the adult population have shown the diversity of the people settled in the city, with an important presence of sub-Saharan lineages. In the child sample studied (21 phalanges), mostly European lineages were found. The 6 fragments of smoking pipes of Dutch origin studied showed a composition compatible with the pyrophyllite.
