- Abstract
The article presents a case report related to allergic contact dermatitis from nickel with unusual localization. A 52 year old woman was first admitted with scaling plaques on the dorsa of her hands and keratotic fissuring lesions on her palms, which had appeared over a 2 year period and repeatedly relapsed. She was a bookbinder. Patch tests were positive to nickel sulphate. This unusual case exhibited clinical features which were at first glance suggestive of lichen striatus. Patch testing and past history clearly indicated the correct diagnosis of allergic contact dermatitis. An affinity of the inner root sheath of hairs for nickel has previously been demonstrated.
