The article presents the author's view in response to the 2011 issue of "Religion & Literature" 42.1 2. The author argues that all essays published in the issue offer illuminating discussions of historical subject matter in a conventional scholarly mode and fascinating autobiographical details. He comments about how little the author's have to say about God, or about what would seem to be the central religious beliefs, such as creation, sin and bodily resurrection.
