- Abstract
We describe congenital hip subluxation in two neonates that underwent prenatal spina bifida repair using the open fetoscopic technique on an exteriorized uterus with three-layer closure. Prenatal fetal imaging (magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasonography) demonstrated the presence of myelomeningocele at an anatomical level of L3-S1 with associated hindbrain herniation. Given the high prevalence of hip dysplasia in infants with spina bifida, prospective studies to determine the role of prenatal ultrasonography in the identification of congenital hip dysplasia and subluxation among fetuses undergoing I in-utero i spina bifida closure are required.
