The authors discuss theories associated with emotional development in infants by R. Draghi-Lorenz. Topics discussed include illustration of theoretical approach, characterization of emotions in basic and nonbasic categories, expression of nonbasic emotions by young infants, development of theoretical frame for evaluation of complex emotions, importance of emotion coding software in research of infants' emotions, and possibility of awareness among infants for itself and others.
