- Abstract
The article discusses how breast self-examination (BSE) for breast cancer screening has evolved over time. Two randomized trials evaluating the role of BSE in the early detection of breast cancer were the Shanghai trial and the Russian trial, which did not support BSE for reducing breast cancer mortality. The need to educate women and encourage them to be more aware of breast changes is described. Breast awareness is a crucial aspect of early breast cancer screening.
