- Abstract
Embedded journalism is specially a kind of correspondence entirely institutionalized with the intervention of the U.S.A. to Iraq. `Embedded Journalism` has been an issue of debate in the literature of communication and has come on the agenda with the developments in Syria. Civil war started by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) revolting against the current government in Syria and the representation style of this war on media shows us that we face a new type of imperialism. The reflection of this war on media puts proponent and opponent embedded journalists on the agenda once again. This study aims at discussing the concept of `embedded journalism`, which is a recently frequent debate. Moreover, it aspires to explore the practices about the journalism by considering the hegemony struggle in communication arena. Our main hypothesis is that embedded journalism is a communication strategy developed so as to increase the possibility of the dominant powers to use the media and to manipulate the public opinion within their own policies. The core questions of this study drawing the chief frame of our research are what the rationale behind the embedded journalism is, how it works in Iraq and Syria, what the realities are, what their functions are during the news transmission process and how they are evaluated within the journalism ethics.
