- Abstract
The Biosolids from sewage sludge used in agriculture, because of its content from organic matter and nutritive elements, but still there are some caveats because of heavy metals and pathogens in the sludge, in aim to study the effect of adding gradual amounts from sludge in productivity of Diplotaxis erucoides, and accumulation of Zn and Cd in its tissues, the plant were planted for two years, Four treatments were used 5 replicate for each treatment: 0 (control), 20, 40, 60 ton/ hectare, respectively. Chemical and physical analysis for sludge and soil were done. height of plant ,amount of chlorophyll, number of inflorescence and fruits, and dry weight were measured. concentration of Zn and Cd in parts of plant were measured in all treatments, Results show that the productivity indicate positive correlation with amount of sludge. the dry weight increased significantly by 70% for Adding 60 ton/hectare in comparison with control. Concentration of Zn and Cd in the soil and plant still within permissible limit(Syrian specification). Diplotaxis erucoides accumulate Zn and Cd because of its concentration in steam higher than its concentration in roots.
