The article presents the author's views on Czech writer Franz Kafka's book "Amerika" or "The Man Who Disappeared" and finds the text rich and stimulating. He develops a metaphor theory without a target, which corresponds to desire without an object. He calls some metaphors original or empty, which do not allow a cognitive interpretation.
