- Abstract
The article reports on the incident involving Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd.'s crude oil tanker Guanabara, which was attacked by Somali pirates while navigating on the high seas in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Somali on March 5, 2011. It notes that the pirates boarded the tanker and attempted to take control of its operation by force sing automatic rifles. It mentions the Japanese Privacy Act adopted by Japanese government amid an increased in the threat of piracy off the Somali coast.
