- Abstract
The article offers information on a study related to the use of denosumab for reducing the risk of fractures in post-menopausal women with osteoporosis. Topics discussed include denosumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody that inhibits osteoclast mediated bone resorption by blocking osteoclast function, formation, and survival; conclusion of the study that showed an increase in bone mineral density with the administration of denosumab in postmenopausal women.
