- Title
Exercise training and physical activity in children: Hard interval training or low hanging fruits to ensure normal growth and maturation for the sake of lifelong physical activity?
- Authors
Heinonen, Ilkka
- Abstract
The article explores the impact of exercise training, particularly high-intensity interval training, on the maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) in 12-year-old youth cross-country skiing athletes. The study suggests that VO2max increased similarly across groups, indicating that high-intensity training might not be necessary for improving VO2max in children, with a focus on overall physical activity and varied training methods.
