- Abstract
Health tourism has improved significantly over the years. Thermalism, promoted by the Romanians, developed in many European countries during the nineteenth century. About twenty years later, a strong campaign for the thermal installation and accommodation structure renewal started in those resorts; new formulae such as rejuvenescence treatments and dietary, non-smoking or antistress stays have been promoted in Romania lately. Thalassotherapy represents an opportunity for seaside resort development. Nowadays, most spa resorts look like complex, multifunctional resorts, being located right near resources and being equipped with modern treatment or cure equipment. As spa cure is the main motivation of this vacation, the reference elements for size and location setting of resorts are represented by the natural factors: variety, capacity, quality, territorial distribution etc. The assessment of the other categories of natural resources including the anthropic ones is able to stimulate the associate tourism forms.
