The article offers world news briefs. Food stores in South Africa are selling genetically modified maize and soy products. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved the first plant-based vaccine developed by Dow AgroSciences LLC. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the myelodysplastic syndrome drug, Revlimid. The World Trade Organization has ruled that many European bans on genetically modified crops and food products breached trade agreements. U.S. President George W. Bush has announced a policy to replace much of the gasoline oil imports by bioethanol produced from agricultural waste.
