- Abstract
The article discusses a study to determine the effect of long-term use, and discontinuation, of bisphosphonates on the skeletal system. Bisphosphonate alendronate (ALN) and rise-dronate (RIS) are anti-remodeling agents commonly prescribed in the treatment and prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Researchers used Sprague-Dawley rats that underwent an ovariectomy (OVX) and received varying doses of bisphosphonates and rise-dronate. An in-depth analysis of study results is presented.
