- Abstract
The article offers information concerning fungal infections taken from the book "Dermatology Nursing Essentials: A Core Curriculum." Fungal infections include dermatophytes, tinea versicolor and candidiasis. Topical treatments include selenium sulfide shampoo, sodium thiosulfate, miconazole, ketoconazole, sulfursalicylic shampoo, zinc pyrithione shampoo and keratolytic soaps. Candida albicans, a yeast-like fungus, is the most common cause of superficial and systemic fungal infections.
