- Abstract
The article focuses on the crimmigration counsel for criminal and immigration justice systems. Topics discussed include U.S. Supreme Court case Padilla v. Kentucky in which the court decided that criminal defense attorneys must advise noncitizen clients about the deportation risks of a guilty plea; U.S. Supreme Court case Teague v. Lane dealing with the application of newly announced rules of law in habeas corpus proceedings; and right to effective crimmigration counsel.
