- Abstract
The article discusses the role of Mexican American civil rights leaders fighting against discriminating meted out to their children studying in South Texas Schools. It mentions the civil right activist George I. Sá nchez who wrote a thesis on Intelligence Quotient (IQ) tests with Spanish-speaking children bringing out cases of discrimination of Mexican American students in Texas schools. It refers to various courts cases concerning school discrimination including Herminio Hernandez and other v. Driscoll Consolidated Independent School District, Trinidad Villareal and others v. Mathis Independent School District, and Diego Chapa, a minor, and others v. Odem Independent School District in which Sánchez played a significance role.
