The article discusses the efficacy of coumarin for the prevention and treatment of thromboembolic events. Genotyping coumarin treatment is considered a guide to identify the patients with an increased risk of overanticoagulation or bleeding. It is stated that international normalized ratios (INRs) is used to monitor the therapy.
