- Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a program of relaxation, behavior modeling video, and imagery on salivary cortisol in volleyball players. The quasi- experimental design included 53 male and female elite volleyball athletes. The data were analyzed by a 2 (experimental and control) by 2 (male and female) multifactor analysis of covariance with repeated measures at a significance level of P<0.05. The findings demonstrated a significant main effect between the experimental and control groups, thus indicating that the mental training program had a significant effect on salivary cortisol concentration.
