A second major plant for a new PD process.
- Abstract
The article reports on the construction of a new propylene oxide (PO) plant of Rabigh Refining & Petrochemical Co. in Japan. The plant is expected to produce 200,000 metric per year of PO and will be the second to use a byproduct free process developed by Sumitomo Chemical Ltd. Moreover, processing PO either generate large volumes of wastewater, styrene monomer ar tert-butyl alcohol but Sumitomo only generates water on its PO process. According to reports, the company's PO process is based on a cumene feedstock. Also presented are the details of Sumitomo's cumene processing.
