We appreciate the authors for their study describing that left atrial appendage (LAA) exclusion using a double-layer suture during mitral valve replacement in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) is safe and effective in reducing early ischemic stroke. Atrial fibrillation, left atrial appendage exclusion, thromboembolism, transesophageal echocardiography.
