- Title
The Care and Prevention in the United States Demonstration Project: A Call for More Focus on the Social Determinants of HIV/AIDS.
- Authors
De Jesus, Maria; Williams, David R.
- Abstract
The authors explore the rationale behind the federal Care and Prevention in the U.S. (CAPUS) Demonstration Project. The authors also discuss how sustained efforts such as CAPUS could help minimize and eradicate racial/ethnic disparities in HIV/AIDS. In 2015, 61 percent of women newly diagnosed with HIV were African American. African American and Latino people are less likely to be aware of their HIV status compared with white people.
