- Authors
Ebenstein, Joanna
- Abstract
An essay is presented which discusses the late 18th century sculpture the "Anatomical Venus," or "The Demountable Venus," by Clemente Susini, which is on view at the Museum of Zoology and Natural History (La Specola) in Florence, Italy as of the 2012 winter. The author contends that the sculpture's portrayal of a woman's body communicates the relationship between art and science, nature and human beings and the human body and the divine.
