- Title
Shakespeare's ‘Bargulus, the strong Illyrian pirate’.
- Authors
Puljcan Juric, Lea
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the play "2 Henry VI" by William Shakespeare is presented. According to the author, Shakespeare's brief allusion to the Illyrian chieftan Bargulus in the play allowed him to compress and dramatize historical events and to connect the Illyrians with the heroes of early English history. Topics discussed include ships, pirates, and the essay "De Officiis" by the Roman philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero.
