- Title
Lost in austerity: rethinking the community sector.
- Authors
Crowley, Niall
- Abstract
The author discusses community development challenges in Ireland, with particular focus on the effects of the 2008 economic crisis and austerity policies on the nonprofit sector. He notes that many community organizations have been forced to downsize their operations and goals due to reduced funding. He argues that the Irish community sector must reevaluate its purpose as separate from partnership with the Irish government and address issues such as equality, justice, and sustainability.
