- Abstract
INTERACTION between chlorine and antimony pentafluoride gives rise to a paramagnetic species the ESR spectrum of which in the liquid state establishes the presence of two equivalent chlorine nuclei1. On warming these solutions, a second species is formed having a well resolved liquid phase spectrum showing the presence of one chlorine and one fluorine nucleus. Our results for these radicals are given in Table 1. On cooling to 77° K, the former radical gave only a single broad line, but the latter gave a well resolved spectrum from which the principal values of the 35Cl. 37C1 and 19F hyperfine tensors could be estimated.
