- Abstract
The article discusses the recovery and rebuilding of Louisiana and Mississippi, which have been affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. The measures of recovery in the post-hurricane period include debris removal, sales tax revenues before and after the Hurricanes, the number of employed people and the unemployment rate, housing statistics and tourism. It was pointed out that Louisiana and Mississippi were affected in different ways by Katrina and Rita, but thoughtful planning and leadership are paving the way for recovery.
