- Abstract
The article "School supervision as a driver of system development: Those who demand quality must provide support" describes the changed role of school supervisors and their collaboration with school principals. School supervision now also has advisory and supportive tasks. Two proven formats that can support educational administration are presented: the Leadership Academy and the National Competence Center. The Leadership Academy in Austria promotes networking and professionalization of actors in the education system and enables collaboration with leaders from other schools. School supervision plays an important role in pedagogical changes in the school system, and the Leadership Academy supports the development and implementation of educational reforms. School quality managers are responsible for implementing reforms and supporting school development. There is often a gap between research results and school supervision, but there are only a few "Knowledge Broker Organizations" in the German-speaking area. Examples of such organizations are the Clearing House for Teaching at TU Munich and the Clearing Office for Evidence-Based Practice of QUALIS in North Rhine-Westphalia. The National Competence Centers in Austria provide the school administration with professional expertise on specific topics. The Federal Center for School Development in Austria supports school supervision officials in development cooperation with schools and provides evidence-based access to educational scientific findings. It is recommended to offer mandatory qualification and professionalization measures for school supervision officials to ensure the required quality in school development and reform implementation.
