- Abstract
Shear walls may be subjected to soil pressure, explosion, impact or other accidents, resulting in out-of-plane failure ・ Four concrete shear walls with different reinforcement ratios were designed, and four-point loading tests were performed to study the out-of-plane bending performance of the concrete shear walls・ Data including the vertical load, specimen deflection, crack appearance and development were recorded, and out-of-plane bending failure process, displacement ductility, yield and ultimate load of the walls were analyzed・ The test results show walls were not damaged with first crack and still had great out-of-plane deformability after the concrete cracked or even the steel bars yielded, although walls were designed with few steel bars. Based on the theory of plastic hinge, the formulas for the yield and ultimate moment resistance calculation of the walls were derived.
