- Abstract
The article discusses the implications of smart cities and the role of rights of European Union (EU) citizens in such environments. It looks at some basic concepts and ideas that are related to the smart city movement, including the idea that trust is inherently connected to vulnerability. The effect of smart cities on the roles of both trust and active citizenship is also explored.
