- Authors
Hubbard, Tom
- Abstract
The article focuses on Scottish novelist Robert Louis Stevenson and the translation of his works before 1900. It notes that Stevenson's real debut came with the publication of "Treasure Island," his most translated work before 1900, in 1883. The author says that he found an excellent source in publishers' catalogs when tracing early translations of Scottish authors. It states that in France, translation and reception of Stevenson was undertaken by men of cosmopolitan orientation.
