- Abstract
The article discusses the use of [68Ga]Ga-PSMA PET/CT in the selection criteria for prostate cancer patients eligible for active surveillance. Currently, the selection of patients for active surveillance is based on various factors such as digital rectal examination (DRE) results, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, Gleason score, and tumor-positive biopsy cores. However, there are inconsistencies in identifying appropriate candidates for active surveillance, leading to unnecessary treatments or missed opportunities for intervention. The article suggests that incorporating [68Ga]Ga-PSMA PET/CT into the selection process can enhance sensitivity and reduce the need for prostate biopsies. However, further refinement of the diagnostic score is needed, and its efficacy in patients with low-grade cancer remains unclear.
