- Abstract
The article clarifies the relationship between preoperative clinical symptoms and immunohistological evaluation of surgically resected pannus tissues from the corneal surface inpatients with severe ocular pemphigoid (OCP) and Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS). Results showed the total loss of the palisades of Vogt and conjunctivitalization of the entire corneal surface. Findings revealed the expression of the conjunctival epithelium marker CK4/13 by all tissues, as well as the expression of skin epidermal major cytokeratins by tissues in keratinized SJS.
