- Abstract
The signaling consumption generated in users mobility process is an important indicator for evaluating the performance in a mobile communication system. In the current 4G network, when a target terminal is paged, all cells in the tracking area list have to send paging signaling, resulting in unnecessary signaling waste. A framework of mobility management is proposed, which can be divided into prediction part and fallback part. The prediction part provides an organic combination of mobility management and prediction algorithm, while the fallback part utilizes Markov chain to analyze the paging process and adopting proposed dynamic paging when prediction fails. Modeling and simulation results of the framework show that the paging scheme can effectively reduce the paging signaling overhead in mobility management when the non-access stratum of the mobile terminal is in idle state.
