- Abstract
The article presents a study which examined the impact of having clinically significant and comorbid anxiety and depression symptoms on severe respiratory exacerbations in smokers. Topics discussed include anxiety and depression as important comorbidities in smokers, characteristics of participants in Genetic Epidemiology of COPD study (COPDGene) and SPIROMICS cohorts, and association between depression symptoms and decreased adherence to COPD medications and pulmonary rehabilitation.
